In the May 2024 local elections ELGP is contesting six wards in Hyndburn & four in Blackburn with Darwen.

 

 

Leafletting has begun in four Hyndburn wards:

Peel - Michael Miller
Central - Shabir Fazal
Church - Sohail Asghar
Spring Hill - Wayne Fitzharris
 
Julie Stubbins (Overton) & Joan West (Barnfield) complete the Hyndburn line-up.

The Green Party is fielding four candidates in Blackburn with Darwen council wards for the local elections due on May 2nd.  
 
In Audley & Queen's Park, 24-year old Aadil Chopdat  will be standing for his first time in the ward in which he lives and attended primary school.     Aadil, a telecoms engineer, has also worked as a mental health outreach worker and recently did a skydive to raise funds for Gaza.
 
Another first timer, standing for Darwen South, is local singer/songwriter Denise Morgan  known most widely perhaps for appearances on The Voice both here and in Ireland  https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/19122072.former-darwen-contestant-voice-excited-sing/  .      Denise is passionate about animal rights .
 
Standing in Ewood will be former Labour councillor for the area and executive member, John Milburn, now with the Green Party since becoming disillusioned with his old party.     
 
Finally, long-time member and co-ordinator for Blackburn and Darwen, Robin Field, will again be standing for Wensley Fold.
