Local elections

Stand for Council

Although we have stood in the area in the last few years we have no Green Party councillors on the local Borough, District or County Councils representing East Lancs wards yet.  But we aim to change this.

So we need lots of enthusiastic, committed and hard-working candidates. We are particularly keen to ensure diversity amongst our candidates.

Candidates must be paid-up members of the Green Party and support its main aims and policies.

As a result of the Boundary Commission changes, the whole Blackburn with Darwen District Council is up for election rather than the usual third. In Hyndburn, there are elections in two thirds of the wards, but none in Ribble Valley. We are advised from Central and Regional Offices that to maximise our chances of winning in a particular ward, the Target to Win Strategy should be adopted as it has been shown that this procedure has led to the highest winning success. This will need a lot of resources which must be directed carefully. The Management team will shortly decide how our resources will be deployed. We hope as many of our members as possible will volunteer to help. An Adoption Meeting will be arranged and published shortly for the selection of Candidates for the May Elections.
